“Winter”
Winter. She has come.
The signs of her, prominent.
The sky, now white and luminescent.
Her breath, it chills the sky,
Her presence, commands ice to fall and lie,
Her touch, commands the water with fear,
And thus, the waters pack closely together with friends, dear.
Winter. She has come.
Her gaze, it causes the trees to wither, only those who
are friends with her, thrive.
Her gaze, it causes the animals to flee, only those who are her friends, survive.
She covers the white blanket over the land,
Softly easing it to slumber.
She casts away the demons, vile,
Chilling the air, tearing their souls asunder.
Everything bows to her presence.
However, He does not.
He refuses to accept these “atrocities”,
The soft, white blanket,
The luminescent sky,
The frozen lakes,
The trees who die.
He mocks her, calling her breath the “icy kiss of death”.
The paralyzing chill, The dumb chore of putting on layer after layer, thick heavy garments,
To his surprise, she remains calm, unwavered. She understands.
She says she is revitalizing the Earth, making it more beautiful in the next year.
She is making the demons burn, making them flee in fear.
He fails to listen, that stubborn He. He insults her further.
She has no choice.
One by one, entering He, Chill, frostbite, sickness.
He pleads, and she spares him.
He bows.
