My first life lesson

I shall start with my first memory in life which was when I went to Thailand and India for the first time with my late mother and older brother. I was about two years old when I encountered this extremely interesting (to a two year old) phenomenon. The images are still clear in my head till this day. I was walking down the street with my brother, and my brother had this idea of putting a piece of candy on the street to see how the little ants would react. I followed what my brother had suggested and took the candy out from my mouth and put it on the ground. To my astonishment, hundreds of ants suddenly appeared from nowhere and marched towards the candy, lifting the whole piece of candy up. Then, the candy started moving as well!! I was only two, so I had no idea how such little creatures can just effortlessly mobilize the hard candy which was apparently hundreds of times bigger in size than them.

This became the first life lesson I learned. Never underestimate people and assume their capability based on exterior factors, and most importantly, the power of teamwork! I guess the intense feeling of seeing something totally unimaginable may be the reason why I could retain this memory despite my young age at that time.

  1. What a site for a two year old to see!

Ants come from nowhere and your candy is lifted away. For some children this would be scary but you saw the beauty in it. I’m sure the ants appreciated the massive sugary gift from the gods.
